Normally, a post titled "Sure Signs of Spring" might feature lovely photos of new green grass, fluffy clouds, daffodils and apple blossoms, new lambs and baby chicks.
But around here, we've got none of that. Here, Spring is also called "Breakup". It's mainly brown.
We do have the fluffy clouds, though. On the way back from the barn last night, I commented to my hubby how pretty the sky was and how different it looked. He said "That's because it's a Spring sky. Winter is over."
Ah. I have survived another long winter. But It's hard to tell right now that Spring has really arrived. The streets are all muddy, my car is brown, there's a volcano blowing its stack a few miles from here (really, click here to see), and the weather is doing crazy things.
But the snow is almost gone, melting at an ever increasing rate, revealing (ugh) brown grass, dead leaves, road sand, and... ahem, "treasures" from pet owners that do not pick up after their beloved Fido.
The flocks and flocks of Canadian Geese will appear in a week or two.
However, the MOST obvious sign that Spring is here is the arrival of Peeps in the grocery stores. I like Peeps. Actually, I have this little Peeps isuse and can't seem to stop ... unfortunately. Hubby gave me that look when I put Peeps in the grocery cart this week. Now admit it, you like Peeps too.
Hmmm, the Peeps were here.
Oh, what's this?
This is my new garden book for 2009. I really like how its coming along, and I'm getting excited about the garden again. Be watching for photos of the inside pages this weekend.
Blessings ~
Eileen

Oh my goodness! What an awesome blog! I just started blogging. I made one a couple of years ago, but didn't have time to blog as I was still doing Interior design. I'm now working from home and started one the other day. WOW oh WOW! I've been searching blogs for the past thirty minutes and boy do I need to go to a blogging school! Your designs are just beautiful!

Hi there! I just bought the Artful Blogging book and found you there - what a beautiful blog. I have an art gallery in Greenville S.C. and would love to use one of your "peeps" photos -- would you mind?
Thanks,

Eileen, I wondered if you lived near the volcano.
I do hope all is well - hoping all it does is drop nutrients for the soil your way!

Looks like you really like Peeps! But I've been seeing them for every holiday, just in different forms. Think they taste different because of the holiday? : )
Your garden book is lovely.
