Believe me when I say, this weekend was for the birds. Those sassy, chirpy little redpolls, I mean. They're responsible for this week's decorating transformation. I was trying to take pictures of them through the windows... which were dirty. Really dirty. Like, I'm embarrassed to show you, dirty.
That's when it began, the wholesale cleaning, house fluffing, and in general turning everything upside down.
It snowed Saturday. Six whole inches, right in the middle of my Spring. Well, at least I was hoping it was Spring, which to be perfectly honest, is really at least another month away. Dementia? Cabin Fever? I dunno, but lucky for me those redpolls arrived, hundreds of them, flocking to the three feeders in the yard, and there they stayed, yesterday throughout the snow, and all day today when the sun came out in all its glorious beauty.
I wanted pictures of the little guys, but the windows were all winter streaky and I kept seeing this crud through the lens, and the auto focus would "see" the dirty glass and not the birds [sigh]. Not being a good enough photographer to focus for myself, I got out the window cleaner....
... and that was all it took. Next came the Spring silk flowers, the pottery, the lighter curtains, and new pillow covers for the living room. I went from room to room while hubby watched, perplexed, from his leather chair. You know what he was thinking....
...but this had nothing to do with hormones. It was all because of the sun streaming into the house through clean windows, and Spring felt closer, possible, within my grasp. I brought out all my little bird nests too.
Even made my own little flock on the kitchen table.
The light from the kitchen windows made the old crate and pottery glow. I took this photo just before I tucked a fresh batch of those homemade kitchen towels inside the crate. More about those later.
I want to climb inside this picture and just stay in that warm sun. Can you feel it too?
Afterwards, exhausted, but happy in the rosy glow of a task accomplished, I snapped this view from the kitchen towards the great room and and daytime dining area. This space always feels so happy to me, peaceful.
It was such a good weekend ~ I hope your's was too?

Lovely and so inspiring. I'm trying to get motivated to get my house transformed to spring and having a hard time. I see you're in Alaska (I'm Minnesota) and the cold weather doesn't help matters. Thanks for giving me some motivation!

Sometimes you just can't stop. I wish I had your energy. If my feet would just get warm, I think I could get started.

This is such a lovely and inviting home. Isn't it amazing how one thing leads to another, to another, to another...? LOL. At least spring has arrived in your house if not in your yard!
