One of my all time favorite songs in the whole world is Glenn Miller's rendition of String of Pearls. It just gets my toe tapping and makes me feel all nostalgic and happy. Mr Miller was a jazz musician who was popular from about 1939 to 1942. I have Moonlight Serenade on my Ipod too...
It was playing in the background while I was gluing pearls into a little frame I'd picked up at the local crafts store, which was sometime shortly after I stitched this soft little stuffed heart. I was sewing, glueing and tapping my toe all at once, which was probably why so many pearls ended up on the kitchen floor.
This made the kitties very happy. There was lots of skittering and chasing tiny pearls, that is, until they all ended up under the couch (the pearls, I mean).
...Anyway, after sanding and painting the frame with gesso, I applied lots of glue, about a 1/8" layer, so the pearls would stick really good. I used several colors of pearls, pink, ivory, white, along with a tiny vial of bronze seed beads. Inside the frame I tacked down one of the new tags I'd recently purchased from Brandywine Designs (so pretty that little rose in the middle), and a few old buttons from my stash. The tiny flower button with the pearl in the center was just, well.. perfect.
Credit for the original idea should go to Heather and Andrea, who made their beautiful pearl studded pretties in heart and cross shapes. Be sure and check out their lovely blogs to see more.
My version, along with the little stuffed heart, ended up in the master bath, which I had restyled a bit over the weekend.
Hope you have a lovely, rosey, day!
Eileen

Eileen, I have a Glenn Miller CD that I exercise to. Sometimes when I'm crafting, I put it on and if I'm standing at my work station, it's hard to hold steady! I hear you! LOL! It's probably my favorite time frame for music, the 40s.
