Country singer Alan Jackson wrote a beautiful song called "Remember When". I confess, it makes me choke up a bit. But then, I'm like that sometimes.
"Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew"
He sang about young love, and, as the years go by, how hard it is to stay together with all the crazy things life throws at you. Been there, done that. I was 14 when I met my hubby. He was 17. That was thirty-eight years ago, thirty-four of those years as husband and wife. Mama said it would never last.
Mr. Jackson sang about how the arrival of children brought new joy and purpose into their lives.
"Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when"
He sang about how real love matures, grows deeper, how, somewhere along the way, we finally realize we've found our life partner.
"Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when"
Hubby doesn't see my wrinkles. No, not even with his bifocals. He still remembers the little red-headed girl, even though I am now all silvery. He says I'm his "all he's got." I like that.
"Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when
Remember when
Remember when"
Happy Valentine's Day Sweetie ~

Your blog is so gorgeous and the sentiments expressed. My two kitties try and "help" me when I am creating things or wrapping things~anything that comes with ribbons to play with buttons to chase and my lap to sit upon especially when I am busy! Blessings!

Oh I do remember when... My daughter is going through the ups and downs of love right now. She and her boyfriend just broke up. Not a good Valentines for her. She's only 20 and so much more to go.
I LOVE your blog Eileen. It is truly so beautiful.
Love Claudie
xo
P.S. Love the string of "things" as your hubby would say. Aren't they funny.
